'Surrogacy should be looked from Indian context' : Indian Society for Third Party Assisted Reproduction (INSTAR)

GUWAHATI: Reigning Miss Universe Olivia Frances Culpo on Saturday said the sensitive subject of surrogacy needs to be looked from the Indian context and maintaining privacy of both the donor and the surrogate mother through a third party agency is also important.
The beauty queen was speaking at an event on 'continuing medical education on surrogacy in India and value the girl child campaign' organized jointly by the by the Indian Society for Third Party Assisted Reproduction (INSTAR) and NF Railway Women's Welfare Organization.

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi, who also attended the event, talked about the importance of protecting girls.
"I am happy that she is visiting the northeast. Celebrities of her stature usually visit Delhi, Mumbai and other such cities. But she made an effort to travel all the way to Guwahati. I genuinely appreciate her efforts to address an important issue," said Gogoi.
Dressed in a traditional Assamese attire, Culpo flagged off a march titled 'Value the Girl Child', along with the chief minister.
